Harry's Cocktail for Groups - The Spicy Bourbon Breeze

My Spicy Bourbon Breeze recipe is the bourbon drinker’s warm-weather cocktail. The ginger and bourbon combination is saddled with orange citrus for a ride that will bring a satisfied smile across any face. This recipe can easily be translated to a punch to serve at any BBQ.

5 ounces fresh ginger, unpeeled and thinly sliced (try using a vegetable peeler)
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
3 cups fresh orange juice (from 10 oranges)
1 1/2 cups (12 oz.) Bib & Tucker bourbon (or your favorite whiskey)
1 1/2 cups sparkling mineral water
Juice of 5-7 lemons

Step 1
Combine ginger, sugar, water, and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat, and cool completely, about 2 hours. Pour through a fine wire-mesh strainer into a small glass measuring cup, discarding solids.

Step 2
Combine fresh orange juice, bourbon, sparkling water, lemon juice, ginger syrup, and orange slices in a large punch bowl or pitcher. Stir to combine. Serve over ic
